About us

College Historical Society (Hist) Committee Room

Our Community Impact

Founded in 1770, the College Historical Society (the Hist) is the world's oldest student debating society. Based at Trinity College Dublin, it promotes student discourse, public speaking, and critical thinking. Through weekly chamber debates, competitive debating, schools outreach, and panel discussions, the society provides a platform for students to engage with complex issues and develop their voices, fostering a large community of current students and alumni.
