Saint Columba's Girl's National School

Our Community Impact

St. Columba’s Girls’ National School in Douglas, Cork, is a unique educational institution that pioneered the first fully integrated curriculum for deaf children in Ireland. Established over 100 years ago, the school integrates a mainstream primary school with a specialized facility for deaf children, fostering a bilingual environment using spoken English and Irish Sign Language. As a DCU Changemaker School, it emphasizes holistic development, environmental stewardship, and inclusive education.
