The Abbey Loughrea

Our Community Impact

The Anglo-Irish Province of the Order of Discalced Carmelites is a religious order dedicated to spiritual life, prayer, and social justice. With origins dating back to the twelfth century, the Order serves the Church and wider community through friars, contemplative nuns, and the Secular Order (OCDS). They operate retreat centres, churches, and the Carmelite Prisoners Interest Organisation (CAPIO), which addresses human rights and prisoner welfare in Nigeria.
