Our Community Impact
Cork ARC Cancer Support House has become a vital source of care, connection and hope for individuals and families affected by cancer across Cork and West Cork. Since opening its doors in 2003, the organisation has provided free professional and community-based support services that reduce the emotional, physical and financial impact of a cancer diagnosis. Through its centres in Wilton and Bantry, Cork ARC ensures that people in both urban and rural communities can access compassionate care close to home.
The organisation delivers a wide range of supports including one-to-one counselling, bereavement counselling, oncology nurse consultations, art therapy, health coaching, social welfare guidance and tailored cancer rehabilitation programmes. Group exercise and wellbeing activities such as yoga, Pilates, mindfulness, relaxation sessions and walking groups help people regain confidence, improve quality of life and reduce isolation during and after treatment.
Cork ARC’s impact extends beyond clinical support by fostering a strong sense of community and belonging. Patients, survivors, carers and families are welcomed into a safe and understanding environment where they can share experiences, build resilience and access practical information. The organisation also supports children and parents coping with cancer within the family, ensuring holistic care at every stage of the journey.
A dedicated team of professionals and trained volunteers plays a central role in delivering these services, strengthening community participation and awareness around cancer care. By removing barriers such as travel, isolation and lack of emotional support, Cork ARC has created a lasting positive impact on thousands of lives throughout the Munster region. Its continued work empowers people affected by cancer to face challenges with dignity, support and hope, while reinforcing the importance of compassionate community-led healthcare.
