Independent People with Disabilities (IPWD) is a democratic, independent, grassroots, cross-disability organization based in Athlone. Established in 2012, it advocates for the rights, self-advocacy, and self-determination of people with disabilities across Westmeath, Longford, and Roscommon. The organization provides information, support services, and disability awareness training, while campaigning for the implementation of 402 recommendations from the 1993 Strategy for Equality to achieve equity in education, training, and employment.
