The William Carleton Society, founded in 1962, is dedicated to promoting the life, times, and literary works of the 19th-century Irish novelist William Carleton. The society preserves his legacy through the development of an archive, library, and collection, and previously hosted an annual Summer School in the Clogher Valley from 1992 to 2019. Their current mission focuses on digitizing historical records, fostering academic research, and providing educational resources to make Carleton's unique insights into 19th-century Irish rural society accessible to a global audience.
